Care work can be challenging but there is nothing like the reward of supporting people and helping them achieve personal goals. A career at Ridgewood Care Services is very much about enabling people, both service users and staff alike.
Caring is not always an easy path, but we passionately believe that if you commit to a career at Ridgewood Care Services you will find being a valued member of our team a challenging, rewarding and supportive experience.
If you want to make a difference to yourself and to others within a small, family run, care service provider, Ridgewood Care Services may be the place for you. People who join us tend to stay, and people who leave often come back!
What will a career with Ridgewood Care Services involve?
Most people at Ridgewood Care Services work in direct support of adults with learning disabilities, ASD, mental health and associated challenging behaviour.
People in support roles undertake a very wide range of tasks. Some people we support have severe learning disabilities, and need assistance with all aspects of daily living, including personal care. Others are able to access the community independently and need support more in the nature of coaching and counselling.
Ridgewood Care Services places great importance on supporting people to meet their personal aspirations and fulfil their potential. To us, this means staff as well as service-users.
We have an outstanding track record and, while seeking to build active and engaged support teams, we offer career progression throughout our services. Because of our strong focus on training and development, many people supported by Ridgewood Care Services have made remarkable progress within and beyond our homes.
What skills do I need?
Experience is not essential as full training and support is provided, but what we do ask is for people to have great values in line with our approach to delivering the quality of care that we can all take pride in.
At Ridgewood we look for people that really care and hold a strong moral and ethical code.
Successful candidates are required to be honest, transparent and possess a strong and genuine commitment to staff and service users alike.
We also require people to have a reflective “outward focus” and continually look to develop themselves, and by extension, the care support and quality of life of all associated with Ridgewood Care Services.
As a small, family run service provider, Ridgewood’s foundation and ethos is fundamental to our approach to quality person-centred care delivery.
Training and Development
Our people are our most important resource. We are therefore committed to their growth and development
Training at Ridgewood Care Services goes far beyond standard. For us, training is essential for our staff to fulfil their potential and that of the people we support. We engage proactively and reflectively with our teams to build their skills and develop good practice, working with people through every stage of their career with us.
Training isn’t all about logged hours and Ridgewood Care Services is committed to offering a balanced mix of coaching and on-the-job experience, vocational qualifications, professional qualifications, and internal & external classroom based sessions.
In addition to working with selected providers to meet our statutory training needs, Ridgewood Care Services has a team of experts delivering specialised training for learning disability workers in areas such as Challenging Behaviour, Autism, Epilepsy, Safeguarding Adults and Person Centred Planning.
