Our Philosophy of Care


We provide residential services for adults with learning disabilities, autism and challenging behaviour.

Our philosophy of care and principle objectives are based around the development of community based residences which provide a caring family environment. Recognising that people with learning disabilities have a right to a normal pattern of life which fully meets the needs and demands of the individual.

We aim to meet and surpass the standards set out in the Health and Social Care Act 2008 and provide our service users with accommodation and service of the highest standard.

We will ensure that our service users are enabled to have Valued Life Experiences in accordance with normalisation to support them with reaching their full potential based on O’Brien’s Five Accomplishments:

  • Choice
  • Community Participation
  • Respect
  • Community Presence
  • Competence

Services Offered


Service user groups

The homes exist to provide care to service users whose primary needs on admission to the home are learning disabilities, challenging behaviour, autism, epilepsy and their associated mental health needs.

Service user needs

We seek to meet a range of service user needs, including:

  • Psychological and behavioural support
  • Medical support
  • Security
  • Communication
  • Hotel services – including housing and meals
  • Day care and activities
  • Personal care – including washing, dressing and toileting
  • Maintaining and developing relationships

Comment on nursing care
Ridgewood Care services is not registered to provide nursing care.
